The energy in Phoenix this 14-16 February was nothing short of electric as the American Fascial Distortion Model Association (AFDMA) hosted the Inaugural FDM Summit. Here is a look at the highlights from this event

First Exam in Five Years

The week kicked off with a high-stakes milestone: the 2026 AFDMA Instructor Exam. This was the first instructor examination in five years, representing years of quiet dedication and hard work from the candidates.

The rigorous process has resulted in five new certified FDM Instructors!

New AFDMA Fellows

The most recent recipients to be bestowed the honor of Fellow of the AFDMA.

  • Byron Perkins, DO, and
  • Ken Nakasone DPT

ATC can now add FAFDMA as credentials behind their name.

This prestigious award is given to AFDMA members who have gone above and beyond for the organization. Five areas of criteria are taken into consideration:

  1. Lifelong Learning,
  2. Practice/Quality Improvement and Public Service,
  3. Teaching,
  4. Publications and Research, and finally
  5. Service to AFDMA.
